Jay Merrick, previously the architecture critic of The Independent for more than a decade, now writes regularly for Architects Journal and Deutsche Bauzeitung, and has produced essays and criticism for other publications, including Architectural Review. Jay has written central essays in architectural monographs for practices including Grimshaws, Wilkinson Eyre, Schmidt Hammer Lassen, and Arup Associates. He is a regular text and submissions consultant for architectural practices and has also written on art-related subjects for publications including The Independent, ArtReview, and Goodwood Magazine. His novel, Horse Latitudes, was published by Fourth Estate in 1999.
